As the news continues to spread that John Delaney, a Democratic candidate for Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District, gave the legal maximum contribution to Tea Party Congressman Andy Harris to help defeat then Democratic Congressman Frank Kratovil just one week before the watershed 2010 election that gave the US House majority to the GOP, the Garagiola for Congress campaign will be sending a registered letter to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing a complaint and calling on them to open an investigation into whether Delaney violated any laws in his attempt to hide this contribution from the public.
“In his contribution to Tea Party Congressman Andy Harris, John Delaney continued his campaign of hiding what he’s done. He tried to hide his identity by writing ‘J Delaney’ instead of his full name, stating ‘CS’ as his employer instead of CapitalSource, and listing the wrong town for the street address he provided,” said Garagiola’s campaign manager Sean Rankin. “So on Monday, we’ll be filing a complaint with the FEC that John Delaney attempted to hide his identity intentionally in the FEC contribution,” Rankin said.
“For no other contribution has John Delaney not fully disclosed his identity. He’s not explaining this sudden change in how he listed his name, employer, and improperly listed the wrong town for the street address he provided for his Andy Harris contribution, so now he can explain it to the FEC. Trying to hide money in politics is a page straight out of Mitt Romney’s playbook,” stated Rankin.
