ROB GARAGIOLA FOR CONGRESS

The holiday season reminds us of what is important in life: our family and friends, the ideals we espouse, the truths we believe. In the holiday moment, we take the time to demonstrate what matters in our lives and our families.  We teach our children to be nice, and not naughty, and reward them when they exhibit charity, commitment, and service to others.

This holiday season, I have a request to ask of you.  Let's carry the spirit of the holidays forward together.  When the candles are put away, the wrapping paper is removed, and we return to our own homes and lives, let's remember that we need to make the time to express our beliefs and act on them.  

That means investing ourselves in worthy pursuits, remembering that working families like ours and our neighbors need each other in tough times, and demonstrating to all our children that if they are given opportunities, they have a responsibility to work hard and make the most of them.  

So let us enjoy the holiday season together, and then let us set the cornerstone together through our campaign to create new opportunities for our communities and working families to achieve their dreams.  It is in our power to give ourselves this gift: a gift that will last for longer than just the holiday season.
