Germantown, MD- All three IBEW Locals based in Maryland's Sixth Congressional District have united behind Rob Garagiola for Congress. IBEW Locals 307, 26, and 24, represent thousands of local working and middle class families in the Sixth.
These key endorsements come with a maximum contribution, and hundreds of volunteers. Last week, the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Union endorsed Garagiola giving his campaign a critical boost as he seeks to be a voice in Washington, fighting for Maryland's families.
"It's not surprising that labor organizations are gravitating to Rob's campaign for Congress. His record of promoting economic growth, and doing all he can to create new good paying jobs with family sustaining benefits is clear. Rob will bring strong labor values and a record of winning victories for us to Congress," said Chuck Graham, Business Manager of Local 26, the largest of the three Electricians Locals.
"I've worked minimum wage jobs, waited tables and unloaded trucks all through high school, college and law school. I understand hard work and how hard it is to raise a family living pay-to-pay check. My wife Cindy is a public school teacher and we both appreciate the important role unions play in protecting the families they represent," stated Garagiola.
"I've led successful fights for working families in the Maryland Senate and when I am serving in Congress, the families of my District will know they have an ally watching their backs in Washington," Garagiola added.
"Rob Garagiola is one of us. It's a pleasure to support his campaign and I urge our brothers and sisters in other unions to get on board so we can ensure that our next Congressman will stand up for common sense solutions, and stand up for us," said Roger M. Lash, Jr., Business Manager of Local 24.
Richard Carder, Business Manager, Local 307 from Western Maryland praised Garagiola, saying: "Rob Garagiola has already served Western Maryland well by being a champion for our working families in the Maryland Senate. I have all the confidence in the world that he will be a great representative in Washington for Western Maryland. He's been here a lot, and we consider him a good friend to our part of the state."
At a time of unprecedented onslaughts and attacks against unions and working families across the country, Rob Garagiola led the fights on a whole range of issues that protect workers including creating an Equal Pay Commission, strengthening the Labor Relations Board, and sage guarding workers compensation.
